The Arts Society Marlow Community Grant

We recently gave a grant to Dementia Action in Marlow (DAM) to fund a fantastic music therapy session and new musical instruments. The music therapy sessions are run alternate weeks by a fabulous volunteer, Geraldine and a professional group, “Sing Away Your Pain”.  The music therapist actively engages the attendees in a variety of songs with the opportunity to sing along and make accompanying music. The sessions are part of a social occasion where hot drinks and snacks are also served and are a wonderfully happy occasion for all of the attendees. These effects may last for hours or days after the music stops.

DAM provide essential support to people living with dementia and their carers, and host weekly café and other gatherings to enable friendships between those people in similar situations.
